Dumb question, but has anyone figured out how to export fully rendered characters (with and without clothing) to another 3d modeling platform such as XNALARA, Gmod or blender?
I've seen some people making fan films and such and I'm looking to do a SFM of my own but I need to port 5-10 already made characters and various props and envoronments from our beloved MMO.
An example would be from this persons project http://community.eveonline.com/externalLink.aspx?l=http%3A%2F%2Fcargocollective%2Ecom%2FThomasM%231490273%2F%2DEve%2D2%2DUnreal%2DUDK%2DCharacters
any ideas? |

no joy eh? I understand TriExporter was the progie to use back when, but I'm having a hard time resourcing new info as CCP has changed the file system a little. |

no joy so far, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong?
I'm gonna try it a few more times but its killing me, I need to get my 5 alternates into models, I'm trying to make some scenic photos of them outside of their ships and stations and image capturing ain't cutting it :( |

I think 3d ripper's parameters are wrong :( I'm not getting that little icon label over the screen, mind you I'm trying this on my laptop right now, gonna see if I can get my desktop(aka supercomputer) to run the same app again.
Tell me your exact application setup and routing when capturing if you can. |

lol tried what you suggested there, it would save me time in the profile stage of portrait making but what ever you did on those images is pretty much what I'm looking for. I have a friend that can rig these models for maya, 3DS and XNALARA for movie making. this is where I'd like to go with it.
was there a cache file or folder you extracted it from? |

Ok, I found this tool, seems to catch the models and such rendered in the game, however I'm still working on a way to get them functioning in another program

I think now its just a matter of importing the objects and cache files into 3DS, I'm gonna spend the next few days trying to figure this out
Everyone, give it a try, would love to see your results as well |

so far I've followed the tutorials on this site : http://www.lagspike.com/tutorials.php?id=116
This is pretty much how far I've gotten, I have a series of OBJ files and associated files and folders, from there I was able to oepn the snapshot in 3DSmax, however, 3DS doesn't render the objects properly. Give it a try and see if you can make some sense of it. |

I've managed to isolate the main character in the jumbled up mess of a snapshot then exported him as an OBJ file, imported him as a new obj, scaled him up and then arranged him as such, however, the textures are fraked. Any idea on how to proceed?

Perhaps I should export him as something else so the textures and shaders are preserved better? |

So, I've managed to render the character, however, the face and hands don't seem to be intact, infact the face is badly damaged, any thoughts? |

so, using 3d Ripper DX I've taken a snapshot sucessfully, but, 3dsMAX is now giving me this "not enough memory to create 1880859 texture-vertices" when I try to loead the scene. Any ideas? |
